Curious about scuba diving but not ready to commit to a full certification course? The PADI Discover Scuba Diving program (also known as Try Scuba Diving) with Sussex Diving & Leisure is the perfect way to experience the underwater world for the first time.
No experience is required — under the guidance of a certified PADI Instructor, you’ll learn essential scuba skills and enjoy your first beginner scuba dive in one of our heated pools in Havant, Hampshire, or at our Selsey, West Sussex location.
It’s a fun, safe, and unforgettable way to try scuba diving locally and take your first step into the world of underwater adventure.
Welcome & Safety Briefing – Your session begins with a friendly introduction from your PADI Instructor, who will explain how scuba equipment works, basic hand signals, and essential safety guidelines.
Equipment Setup & Fit – We’ll provide all the scuba gear you need. Your instructor will help you get set up and make sure everything fits comfortably before you get in the water.
Your First Scuba Dive – Once you’re feeling confident, it’s time for the best part! You’ll head into slightly deeper water for your first real dive, experiencing the incredible sensation of breathing underwater under close instructor supervision.
Debrief & Next Steps – After your dive, your instructor will review what you’ve learned, answer questions, and explain how you can continue your scuba journey with the PADI Open Water Diver course if you’re ready for more adventure.
The PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience is designed to be accessible and beginner-friendly, with only a few simple requirements:
✅ Minimum Age: You must be 10 years or older to take part.
✅ Comfort in Water: You should be comfortable in the water, but no prior diving or swimming qualifications are required.
✅ Medical Questionnaire: All participants must complete a PADI Medical Statement. If you answer “Yes” to any of the health questions, you may need to get medical clearance from your GP before taking part.
✅ Parental Consent: Participants under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign consent forms.
That’s it — no experience, exams, or special skills are needed. Just bring your swimsuit, a towel, and a sense of adventure!
